-Review of fitness for life components
-(State Standard 1): Demonstrate competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
-(State Standard 2): Demonstrate understanding of movement, fitness and nutrition concepts, principles, and strategies as they apply to the learning and performance of fitness activities.
-(State Standard 3): Students will participate regularly in physical activity.
-(State Standard 4): Students will achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
-(State Standard 5):Students will exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.

Standard 1, Objective 1: Analyze daily activities such as: walking, running, lifting.
- Use FITT formula to evaluate activities.
Objective 2: Participate in activities outside of the school day.
-Maintain activity journals
Standard 2, Objective 1: Identify genetic influences.
-Describe mental, social, psychological benefits of physical activity.
-Describe how exercise increases longevity and quality of life.
Objective 2: Review elements of physical fitness.
-Explain concepts of flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition.
Objective 3: Principles of warm-up and cool down.
-Develop weight training programs.
-Compare aerobic and anaerobic activities.
Objective 4: Explain role of nutrition.
-Identify benefits and dangers of weight loss, vitamins, steroids, power drinks, and performance enhancing drugs.
Standard 3, Objective 1: Assess personal health and fitness levels.
Objective 2: Develop and implement a personal fitness plan.
Standard 4, Objective 1: Participate regularly in physical activities.
-Use results of post fitness tests to guide changes in fitness plan.

State Fitness Tests:
-Testing 1 ½ mile run.
-Testing Pull ups/ Arm hangs and sit & reach.
-Testing pushups and sit ups
(number of reps per minute)
-Active participation in games
-Daily participation in class
-Daily observation by instructor with correction and teaching of proper techniques
-Evaluation of goals.
-Daily warm-up, exercise, and stretching
-Variety of workouts on specific muscle groups.
-Learning how to work in your target heart rate area
-Demonstrate components of fitness
-Identify factors to improve personal fitness
-Write a personal fitness program
-Understand safety issues
-Lecture, assignments and tests from the Fitness for life books.
-Variety of games
-Individual and team sports
-Use of outside material.

This course is a semester course, therefore the content is covered over a period of one semester, and then repeated the following semester. evaluating. Adjustments are made in course content according to the needs and development of the students.
